Race Rules and Race Details
The race is run in accordance with the rules of ASA and WPA. All participants must comply with the rules, regulations and instructions given by officials, marshals and traffic officials. Non-compliance may lead to disqualification. The race organiser reserves the right to accept / reject any entry received.
Chapman's Peak Drive will be closed to traffic.

Route
The Chapman's Peak Half Marathon consists of two courses:
- 21.1km
- 10km
This route is very scenic along the coastal road from Hout Bay to Noordhoek and back.

Entries limited to 2500 runners. Enter early to book your place. No entries will be taken on the day.
Online Entries Close on Friday 27th September 2019 at 5pm
Paper Entries Close on Friday 20th September 2019 at 5pm
Entry Fees are not refundable unless the entry is rejected by the organizer less any bank charges.
If you are not able to enter online. You can enter at one of the Pick n Pay Store.

Race Indemnity
By entering this event I undertake to be bound by the rules and regulations of the event including those of IAAF and ASA. I warrant that I am in good health and aware of the risks and dangers of physical nature of this sporting event, and do not claim ignorance of these risks and dangers. I hereby accept that I participate in the event entirely at my own risk and I release and discharge, to the fullest extent allowed in law, the organisers of the Chapman’s Peak Half Marathon, Athletics South Africa, Western Province Athletics, City of Cape Town, Western Cape Provincial Government, Entilini Concession (RF) (PTY) LTD, Entilino Operations (RF) (PTY) LTD, Hout Bay Harriers, Sport Redefined, all official sponsors and partners, volunteer groups, medical suppliers, and any and all local authorities, from any responsibility, liability or costs relating to any injury, loss or damage of whatever nature, however caused, arising directly or indirectly from my participation in the event including pre- and post-race activities. I further agree and warrant that if at any time I believe conditions to be unsafe, I will immediately discontinue further participation in the activity;
MINOR RELEASE: and I, the minor’s parent and/or legal guardian, understand the nature of athletic activities and the minor’s experience and capabilities and believe the minor to be qualified, in good health, and in proper physical condition to participate in such activity and I enter into this Indemnity/waiver on behalf of the minor.
Chapman's Peak Drive - Condition of Entry
Entry into Chapman's Peak Drive is at your own risk. None of Entillini Concession (Proprietary) Limited (the Concessionaire). Entillini Operations (Proprietary) Limited (the operator), the Provincial Administration of the Western Cape, the South African National Parks Board, their respective servants and employees will be liable for any death or injury to any person or loss or damage to any property whilst you are on Chapman's Peak Drive, irrespective of the cause of such death injury, loss or damage, including any act or omission of any of the above mentioned, whether negligent or not.
Any person using or entering Chapman's Peak Drive indemnifies each of above named against all and claims which may be brought against them or any of them by any dependant of such person.
In addition, the driver of any vehicle indemnifies each of the above names against all and any claims which may be brought again them or any of them, by any passenger in such vehicle or any dependant of any such passenger.

Junior Categories is less than 20 years old with the minimum age for each distance
- 21.1km - Minimum age 16 years on race day
- 10km - Minimum age 14 years on race day
Age category tags must be worn to be eligible for an age category prize in the age category they enter.
Race Number Collection
You are able to collect your Race Number at the following locations:
- Hout Bay - The Vine from 2pm to 5pm on Thursday 10th October 2019. 15-17 Main road Hout Bay
- Tygervalley - Sportsmans Warehouse from 11:00am to 2pm on Friday 11th October 2019. 1 Bill Bezuidenhout Avenue Tyger Valley
- Rondebosch - Sportsmans Warehouse from 09:00am to 2pm on Saturday 12th October 2019. 34 Klipfontein Road Rondebosch
- Race Day at The Vine in Hout Bay from 5:00 to to 6:30
Temp License Runners
Please make sure you collect your temp license number that needs to go on your back. Runners who forget their temporary licences at home on race day will need to purchase a new one on race day (21.1km - R60; 10km - R40; 10km Junior - R25) to avoid being disqualified.
Not able to collect your Race Number
Please ask friend or club member to pick it up on your behalf or as a last resort, arrive early on Race Day and collect it from The Vine at 5:00am.
How to Display your Race Number
The official race number must be unaltered on the front of the runners' vests. As per the new ASA 2019 rules, licensed runners MUST wear both their licences (front and back). The race number is placed on the front over the licence number so that the licence sponsor, year and province remain visible. Temp licence athletes wear the race number on the front and the temp licence on the back.
No swapping of race numbers is permitted as the race number is linked to your name and finishing time. Any swapping may result in your disqualification.
Each race distance has a linked race number range and colour used to capture your data electronically. For this reason, no transfer between races is allowed.
Seconding
No personal seconding will be permitted, no Chapman's Peak Drive.
Water Station
The Chapman's Peak Half Marathon is trying to be more environmentally friendly by reducing the amount of plastic we use. Water and Coke at each water station will be served in a cup.
We encourage all runners to carry their own collapsible cups or small bottles that can be refilled at each station. We will be using cups instead of the plastic water sachets. There is an option to purchase the ideal running cup when you register. Remember you will be able to keep it and use it at other races. Remember to #RunGreen #RunClean #ICarryMyOwn.

How to Refill
No Littering Please. Runners are to use all bins provided at the water stations. Runners are required to dispose of their litter within a "designated area".
Athletes who dispose of cups or other litter outside of this designated area shall be guilty of an offence and liable to a warning and/or a fine.

Finish
The finish is at Kronendal Primary School sports field. On finishing, participants will receive a medal and a cold cup of coke. Runners will need tear off the lucky draw slip on their race number and place it in the lucky draw box. You need to be present to win a lucky draw.
Food and drinks will be on sale from vendors within the festival area. Family and friends can join you at the finish if they wish to.
You will be able to get your medal engraved if you would like.
Cut off Time
Prize giving
Prize giving will be at 9:30am on the field.
There will be category prizes and lucky draw prizes.
To be part of the Lucky Draw prizes, make sure you place the Lucky Draw tear off slip on your race number in the lucky draw box at the finish.
Prizes
In addition to overall (Open) Prizes, participants will only be eligible for an age category prize in the age category they enter. Corresponding numerical age category tags must be worn on the front and back of their club vest. Participants may enter the age category corresponding to their chronological age or any younger category to senior.
Temporary licensed participants are eligible for age category prizes provided they enter the relevant age group, wear the appropriate age tags and provide proof of age.
Temporary licensed athletes must run in plain coloured clothing without advertising with the temporary license number on the back of the vest.
Runners may enter the age category corresponding to their chronological age or any younger category down to senior.
Juniors (born in 1999 or later ie under the age of 20 at 31 December 2018) wearing a senior or junior licence must display category tags "J" to qualify for age group prizes for the 10km course.

Runners need to complete the information on their entry form prior to the race.
Runners must give proof of their age at the request of the Race Referee (Original ID / Birth Certificate / Permanent residence Permit)
Licensed runners should wear club colours and a valid 2019 license on the back of their vest.

First male and female to reach the top of Chapman's Peak (6.3km) for the 21.1km will receive a voucher from The Vine as long as they complete the race. |
Race Timing
Your Race Number will contain a timing tag to record your race time. Your race number must be worn on the front of your vest and visible at the finish line.
Make sure you don't damage your race number by folding it or bending it. Do not remove the timing tags on the back.
No timing tag = no time = no result
For safety, only the person assigned to this race number may use it.

Baggage
A tog bag facility will be available at the start. Bags will be transported to the finish. All items are stored at owner's risk. Please ensure that your bag is clearly marked with your race number.
Please don't put anything of big value in your bag.
Parking
Please note there is limited parking space at the finish (Kronendal Primary School). We strongly encourage you to car share and to arrive early to find a parking between the start and the finish.
Participants are requested not to park in any residential parking bays near any apartments. Any illegally parking will be clamped, fined or towed by the Traffic Department.
There is parking in the following areas:
- Beach Crescent
- Milkwood Crescent (Hout Bay Library)
- Underground parking at Mainstream Mall
- Baviaanskloof Road (Hout Bay Scouts)
- Main Road
NO PARKING in Andrews Road at the Finish by Kronendal Primary School.
Road Closures
We would like to inform motorists, residents and runners in the Hout Bay and Noordhoek areas that Chapman's Peak Drive will be closed for duration of the Chapman's Peak Half Marathon. The run takes place on Sunday 13 October 2019, and the race organisers are appealing to motorists to use an alternative route during the run. Please drive safely, be on the look out for runners, and to obey all traffic marshals and police who are there for your and everyone’s safety.
Chapman's Peak Drive will be closed from 6:00 to 10:00.
Runners will use the following roads, but they will not be closed to traffic.
- Beach Crescent
- Military Road
- Baviaanskloof Road
- Darling Street
- Andrews Road
Safety
For safety reason the use of personal music players with headphones during the road race is not allowed and may result in disqualification.

Wheel Chairs
Wheelchair athletes must please contact the organiser timeously to discuss arrangements for their participation.
Back to TopEntry Substitutions
Substituting your Entry by either selling it or giving it to someone else. This must take place online before the 7th October 2019. Race Number exchange includes the registration fee and any additional purchases (t-shirt, etc) that will be transferred to the new runner. The new runner will have the option to purchase additional add-ons if they are still available.
No substitutions will be taken after the 7th October or on Race Day.
The Entry Fee is to be sorted out between the runner selling his/her entry to the runner who is taking it over. No refunds of the entry fee will be paid by the organisers.
The runner taking over the entry will need the registration ID to complete the entry form.
